Investment thesis

Four consecutive earnings beats averaging 33% upside surprise, an attractive forward P/E of 8.8x, and 21.5% upside to the price target make a credible value-with-catalyst case, but negative price momentum following an extreme gap down and declining revenue at -9% year-over-year indicate the market is re-rating the business—patience is required before the setup resolves.

About Fox Corporation

About Fox Corporation

Fox Corporation's flagship cable network, FOX News, reached approximately 61 million U.S. households as of June 30, 2025, alongside FOX Business (60 million) and FS1 (61 million), both down from the prior year amid industry-wide MVPD subscriber losses. Tubi, FOX's ad-supported streaming service, streamed approximately 11 billion hours of content in fiscal 2025 and holds a roughly 2.2% share of U.S. television viewing. FOX operates 29 owned local television stations covering 18 Nielsen markets, including 14 of the 15 largest.

FOX earns revenue from two main streams: affiliate fees paid by MVPDs and virtual MVPDs to carry its cable networks and local stations, and advertising sales across linear, digital, and streaming platforms, supplemented by Tubi's ad-supported model and licensing/sublicensing of content to third-party streamers including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Apple TV+. Sports programming rights are a major and rising cost: FOX holds long-term deals for NFL, college football (including the Big Ten Conference), MLB (including exclusive World Series rights), NASCAR, and the FIFA Men's World Cup, and added INDYCAR and LIV Golf rights in fiscal 2025 while ending its WWE agreement. The company ended fiscal 2025 with about $5.4 billion in cash, returned roughly $1.25 billion to shareholders via buybacks and dividends, and retired $600 million of debt. FOX also holds an equity stake in Flutter Entertainment and an option to acquire 18.6% of FanDuel Group, and plans to launch its direct-to-consumer streaming service, FOX One, in fall 2025.

Show full overview

FOX's affiliate-fee revenue is structurally exposed to two compounding pressures: the 10-K discloses that the company derives a significant portion of revenue from a limited number of MVPD distributors, so a failed renewal or 'go dark' dispute with even one major distributor would hit both affiliate fees and ad sales simultaneously. That concentration sits atop an industry-wide subscriber decline already visible in FOX's own numbers — FOX News fell from 67 million to 61 million households and FS1 from 67 million to 61 million year over year — a trend the company expects to continue and possibly accelerate, testing whether Tubi's growth (11 billion streaming hours in fiscal 2025) and the planned FOX One direct-to-consumer launch can offset linear erosion quickly enough.
